Random Act of Kindness
When you carry out acts of kindness you get a wonderful feeling inside. It is as though something inside your body responds and says, yes, this is how I ought to feel. Nikita Wong. Wongy. Wongkie. Wongkitongkie. Ms. Wong. Nikita. Whatever name you know me by. This is my ranting and rambling on the memoirs of the olden days, the excitement of the present days, and the anticipation of the future. This is me, uncensored. |

The Start of a New Beginning
This post is dedicated to you who have complained so much about the look of my laptop desktop. The new year marks a new beginning. This means the resurrection of my dear laptop. I have had problems with its LCD since my last conference in April 08. It finally gave its life up in May, months leading up to the end of my MCP term. (which created havoc and a lot of inconvenience at that time). It really is true that you don't know what you got til it's gone. :'( I was considering buying a new lappie as people said it will cost me half a new laptop to get it fixed. But since I'm still very much in love with it I decided to get it fixed instead. A few hours later - I came out carrying my laptop with its LCD looking like brand new (well, it's not. But it's working now!) To symbolise the new beginning, I took a step in organising my folders. One of it is with tidying up my desktop. I now expect a faster reboot. Before.... ![]() And after ... ![]() ... voila! Labels: random |

Desktop is just a temporary folder, just like your desk, if u need to access a particular file repeatedly and u need thm fast, place em on the desktop
once u are done with it u can put it away in proper folder in "my document" or so
your computer generally will startup slightly slower if u get your desktop cluttered with files, thats because they need to load up all those icons to the screen
one thing should be considered to improve a laptop efficiency is make sure u empty your trash bin often, use the"disk clean up" to remove unused items and lastly defrag your drives
Just for your information, windows XP and its essential equipment uses about 300mb of ram and YM uses about another 50mb, thats when its in idle, it grew larger as u chat with your friends.
Other application also uses ram, office might use about 100mb or so.
generally laptop these days only have 1000mb of usable ram
once your usage is over 50% of your ram capacity, your computer performance degrade considerably.
