All in One
Being a student with all its perks...

Don't you just love Orientation Week? Being a student, the O'Week is heaven. Free goodies everywhere, free backyard entertainment, great deals from companies who are desperately targeting students as their customer base.

Just this morning I walked to the Library when a salespromo girl from a Bank stopped me to offer a "StudentCard". It normally cost you $20 to order one of those. It is a discount card for students in some of the companies that affiliated with it. However, if you have an account with this certain Bank, you will automatically get it for free. So, after the next 5 minutes, I walked away with a free can of Coke and a new bank account.

The student association also providing a week full of entertainment for its student starting next week, they call it the Summer Love. Although, nothing comes for free, you could get a free Orientation ticket to one of the gigs just by being a volunteer of the event. Nice! All you need is spare time - sadly, at the moment it is something that I don't have! Although I would love to see Elemeno P on stage at the Orientation!

Yesterday, AIESEC participated in UC GetConnected Welcome ceremony. Not only have we got a NZ-Idol-standard entertainment (Meaning, those people who did a gig at the beginning of the ceremony did a bloody good job at singing!), we also got a bag of goodies full of discount cards in some of the best hang-out place in Christchurch!

I am going to miss all the Enrolment/Orientation Week buzz next year. This time next year, I hope I will doing my linking visit and experience a different buzz in different University.

Officially Employed.

Yes, I have started my weekend paid job. A lot of learning from one weekend I can tell ya! I, now, truly believe that Christchurch is one small cramped place to be . A co-worker showed me around the store on my first day of work. She introduced me to the people in other departments (which I can barely remember any of them!). Then that was when I met the lady who worked as a supervisor in my old workplace 3 years ago! She is the same bitchy supervisor lady who always gives me an evil look and asking if I would buy a dried-out bacon bones and if I wouldn't how could I expect the customer to buy it - and why didn't I price down the goods! Basically she was one of the reasons why I quit my old job. Damn, Christchurch is *that* small!

On my second day of work, I had lodge my leave application for conference on April. And they are cool with it. I think I'm going to like my employer this time. :)

On the other hand....
All of these are just too much of a good thing for me in one weekend. Tough times are coming like a swell. It is so big I just can see it. But as they say,

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger
But I guess what doesn't kill me makes me really really sick at this point of time.

Oh yeah, Happy Valentine .. to those who actually cares
