Unusual
Coming to the office this morning, very surprised to see Nick cleaning up the office. It's clean and tidy now, don't know how long would it last though. I am so .. not used to a clean office. It just looks bare, as if we didn't do anything in the office (which is of course, not true, since we all are hard-working ppl here).

Apart from the unusual quietness in the office, other thing that frustrates me is the unreliability of our lovely mailserver. It was down since before lunchtime and I couldn't do anything without it all day. It reminds me to the saying, "You don't know what you've got til it's gone." Feckn' aye! I promise that I will be good to it next time it's up and running and won't complain about the address book that's not working and the problems when deleting messages because it deletes the messages I wanted to keep and the weird messages it sometimes sends when I try to log in. Phew.

I also had my last chat as an XCD director, I didn't realise until Mussy said it. It feels weird not to be the XCD anymore because it is pretty much what I am.

Anyways, while the Wellingtonians and the Aucklanders are having their alumni dinner thing, I'm going to hang with Abhi tonight. Yes, he soon will be AIESEC NZ alumni anyway, yeah? LC Dinner has been set in such short notice fortomorrow night, and probably watching the Super 12 final tomorrow. It will be a good night!

Yesterday/Today/Tomorrow
"Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you"

Today is the second day of the "new" term. Ryan left last night to Wellington, resuming his NFT position for another month and a bit before becoming my Head Honcho (again) *sigh*. I better enjoy every moment while it lasts.

On the brighter side, though, two of my EB members become an office-addict! (Yipee!) They just couldn't get out of the office! Nick and Seetal were pretty much right here all the time when they're not in class or in ICX meeting. The more they're in the office the more we know each other better, including all the bads, the uglies and the gossips ;)

A few things I notice today are:
1. Nick is becoming more and more like Ryan ! How scary is that!
2. The office is much more tidier eventhough nobody tidy it up. (So now we know who's the source of all messiness, eh?)
3. The EB member will do whatever the LCP says! :)

I'll tell you a story to prove #3 above,.... it was one lazy afternoon for office-addict like us lot here. He wanted to download a song from DC++. As a good LCP I showed him how to find and use the programme. As the song downloads he complains on how slow the rate was (mind you, it was like 12-something Kb/s! Bloody impatient male!). So I said, "It would be faster if you take your hand off the mouse!" And guess what, he took his hand off the mouse! Mwahahahaha.... I'm so going to love this year. Only in Canterbury, where the LCP's word is gospel. LOL

Other than that... Abhi is coming to town tomorrow! Woo-hoo... Not only Abhi... HD might also come by to the lovely Christchurch. We promise you that you will experience the best hospitality that you have never experience before. Looking forward to seeing you two! Who's next? ;)

It's good to be the LCP!

Nikita's Song of the Week

fragile-words

I drove to Uni today and the Edge was playing this new song from Yellowcard, "Only One". Well.. it actually isn't that new since I have heard this weeks before. I'm always the last to catch on the trends. This song, is officially my song of the week! =)
ONLY ONE - Yellowcard

Broken this fragile thing now
And I can't, I can't pick up the pieces
And I've thrown my words all around
But I can't, I can't give you a reason

I feel so broken up (so broken up)
And I give up (I give up)
I just want to tell you so you know

(Chorus)
Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you
You are my only one
I let go, there's just no one that gets me like you do
You are my only, my only one

Made my mistakes, let you down
And I can't, I can't hold on for too long
Ran my whole life in the ground
And I can't, I can't get up when you're gone

And something's breaking up (breaking up)
I feel like giving up (like giving up)
I won't walk out until you know

I know this is such a soppy song, but it fits perfectly with my blog! Well.. the first few lines anyway. Anybody else wants to comment that I'm all emotional? ;p

Expedition to the 'Antartica'
Last night was Ryan's Farewell Party. As promised, it ended up to be a huge all-night-drinking night. With 50L Keg and 1L 42 Below, it'll satisfy your thirst! The lovely Aditi came all the way from Wellington as a suprise for Ryan. (Oooh.. that is soo sweet! And you wouldn't believe what a hassle we have to go through to keep this a secret til that night.) We decided to rent out SingStar Party to live up the night since the guys keep on playing the stupid soccer game. Man, oh man... what a hidden talent we have down here. Mr.Nick Hodgson, ladies and gents scored more than 9200 points in his favourite number, "This Love" by Maroon 5. As for myself..., I'm suck as always. :D

Generally the night was a fun-filled, drink-in-excess night. For the litre of 42 Below that was originally going to be consumed by the 4 girls ended up being consumed only by Seetal and I. A couple of hours past and we only reached "New Zealand". This is where Nick said, "Come on guys, Antarctica is down here *pointing the lower line near the bottom of the bottle*, it's a loongg way away from New Zealand!" Then we thought, oh well... we should drink more then to get there.

The expedition to the "Antartica" doesn't seemed to work for neither of us. After a few more drinks, I started to stumble and falling over. The party ended around 3 am where the last people left and the others crashed (I think only Ryan stayed up playing PlayStation). Ooh, IF ONLY I knew the impact of my "Antartica Expedition" I wouldn't even try! Massive hangover during the night, kept on woken up by the pain, sore arms and shoulders (This might be because sleeping on the hard floor, though). Stories were told after I woke up. Apparently I fell over quite a number of times and did a few destructions from ripping the microphone off Nick so he wouldn't win the karaoke battle against Mary to smacking Ryan on the head! Oh gosh, I hope there are no embrassing evidence of the night.

Thank You
A lot of thank you's were said in our AGM on Wednesday. Not only that, the whole day practically full of thank yous, started with a thank you email that's sitting in my inbox from Vina, then Ying.. and then a post on @.net from Iva. In AGM, like every other AGM I have attended before, we can't thank each other enough for all the support and the opportunities and the inspiration and so on and so forth...

Now I would like to thank a couple of my old EB team members... Alan Masters and Paul Wilson. You might think it's just another email you send, but it means a lot to me. Thank you for the encouragement emails and it's always good to hear from you guys! Should do it more often. :)

The Irony in Life
I wasn't going to write about how shit the day has been. Not only it was raining and was freezing cold all day long in Christchurch, but NOTHING goes right today. It all started when Ryan went into the office with this grin on his face asking, "When is Adi arriving?" Why is this making me upset, you say? Well, he doesn't supposed to know!

And was followed with Nick writing on the board with vivid a huge, "Pick up keg for Saturday" He ended up using his deodorant and hoping it would rub the writing off the board, before the smart Nikita pointed out that UCom actually has turpentine for that purpose. The whole room stunk of Nick's smell and turpentine. :S

The whole thing didn't stop there unfortunately. Later on the afternoon I went to a meeting where we're running late and I parked my car in the other side of the town and had to run my ass off to get to the meeting 5 minutes late.

The last but not least was when I was suppose to have another meeting afterwards. Getting there, again, one minute late. Standing outside te corporate's office in the cold because I need to meet the meeting setter and because I don't know who am I meeting with if I was going to get in and go for the meeting myself.

I wasn't going to tell the world all that but,....it's all said and done.

In the more lighter note, I read this article in CECC e-newsletter. Ohh, the irony!

From Third World to First World - The Irony

Life is full for little ironies. The one we have enjoyed recently, was as a
result of attending the Prime Minister of Vietnam's dinner held for him and
his many members of his entourage recently in Christchurch. During the
dinner we learned that the delegation had travelled to New Zealand in a
Boeing 767 charter flight. They were desirous of bringing Vietnam Air's new
Boeing 777 to Australia and New Zealand but were unable to do so as the
Boeing 777 could not land at Wellington airport because of runway length
restrictions. We think it is a wonderful irony that a third world country
cannot bring its desired charter plan to a first world country because the
runway at the capital city of that first world country is just too short!!

Congrats to HD!
I just want to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to HD for getting into MC UK 05/06! Best wishes for you! *hug*

Another Kiwi Ingenuity
Yay for another kiwi ingenuity from the south. Good news for women,... at least for me, in a few months time I can drink Black Forest gateaux-flavoured beer! I wonder what the taste would like. Imagining it, it might taste like Baileys without the creaminess. Mmm, looking forward to the product launch. :> I lurve the men that invented this beer. They know exactly what women wants. So for you boys out there, learn from the brewer! :p

This leads me to think, would it be possible for the OC to provide this type of beer for the girls in Boat Race Night in conferences? If they do, maybe I should start thinking about being in the A Team ;) .

Next Beer Appreciation Night would be at Dux de Lux, aye boys?

Work Now, Party Later
The boys had a "Beer Appreciation Night" last night. Yes, another Southern lads ingenuity. Basically it was the night of (foreign) Beer, Boys and Balls (rugby, that is!) ... or PlayStation (if there's no game on). I'm sorry to say but I have to passed that one up. It doesn't seem too attractive for me to spend the night drinking beer and playing PlayStation. Although I suggested to rent out SingStar2 - the karaoke game.

I would rather to save my money and energy for Ryan's Farewell Party next weekend. By the sound of the enthusiastic party-goers of this LC, it is going to be huge. They even suggested to start the party from Friday night! It also might involve a keg of Harrington's (cheap as Nelson-brewed beer) or maybe a keg of IceBreaker .. for me. Tee-hee.

Back in the office again this afternoon and I supposedly doing some work before my term ended. (which is in 10 days time! *gasp*) But I got NOTHING done. Why? Touching up this blog, of course. Can't you see your name lined up nicely under "Links" on the left-hand side? ;D It's about time I do something a little creative and using my left-side of the brain.

A Rocking Saturday in the Office
Woo hoo.. finally I'm in nomadlife! Today, spent on doing minimal work and maximum procrastination. After a long week, I think I deserve it.
