Believe

When we're talking about this, only a few people came to mind. One of them is my former highschool Math teacher. His name is Oyong (funny name, eh?). He was my Math teacher eversince I got into Junior Highschool through to the time I left for New Zealand- for 5 years. Yup, by the end of it I got sick of him. He always believed in me that I can do it. I can do better than what I had done. As always, I was there with my "But's" and "I cant's".

I always thought that it's just one of the teaching method. Of course as a teacher you have to always be encouraging to your students, right? ... Right?

After a few years I found that he could be very sarcastic and could be downright degrading to some people (You know...those im-too-kool-for-skool students.) But not to me, though, although I wasn't exactly the most intelligent nor hard-working student in the class. When I left Indonesia, he could be the most disliked (to say the most hated, is too strong) teacher amongst my friends. He gives difficult homework and exams.

So during my South Island trip a couple of years back, when I was in Wanaka at Puzzling World, I saw this book. Then I thought of him and his teaching method. And yes, throughout my life I found people like him every once in a while. But now I could appreciate that a lot more.
